Drinking Beer = Community

What if we told you that giving back to the community was as simple as drinking a beer at your favorite local place? Sounds too good to be true?

Hops for Hope truly makes it that easy! Hops for Hope is a charity collaboration between local restaurants and breweries that raises money for local nonprofits. The logistics are straightforward: Iowa City area restaurants partner with great breweries and local non-profits that rotate monthly. $1 is donated for every beer purchased at participating establishments in town...it's that simple!

Hops for Hope’s fundraising efforts began less than a year ago when 9 restaurants partnered together to benefit the Shelter House. Since that time, they have donated over $20,000 to various non-profits across Eastern Iowa. Recent highlighted non-profits include the East Central Iowa Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, the Crisis Center of Johnson County, and the Friends of the Animal Center Foundation. With so many great restaurants involved, it’ll be easy (and tasty!) for you to make a difference in the community.

Many Locals Love Us restaurants and breweries are participating, including Red’s Alehouse, Vesta, 30Hop, Big Grove Brewery, Blackstone, Joe’s Place, Mosely’s, and Pullman Bar & Diner. Be sure to visit Hops for Hope’s Facebook page, @hopsforhopeiowa, for monthly updates on featured non-profits and a full list of participating restaurants and breweries. Hops for Hope has already made valuable community contributions in their first year.

With your help, they will be able to make a difference in Eastern Iowa for years to come.
