It’s no surprise Mergen Orthodontics was named the 2017 Outstanding Small Organization by Eastern Iowa’s Association of Fundraising Professionals. The team at Mergen believes not only in helping people realize their most confident smile; they also spend countless hours and resources on giving back to many organizations throughout the community. In fact, owner John Mergen has carefully chosen the company’s mission statement to intertwine these important pillars in his life, “Changing people’s lives with new smiles and helping support our local charities to positively influence even more lives in a special way.”
This focus on giving has helped many local organizations provide for those in need. John is especially energetic about 100 Plus Men Who Care: Hawkeye Chapter. “It’s an amazing group of people providing real impact in our community” says Mergen. 100 Plus is a unique collective contributing towards the common good. Each quarter, over 100 individuals each pitch in $100 to be given to a deserving local organization. Both men’s and women’s Hawkeye chapters have been organized and have driven over $400,000 directly into the hands of local non profits.
Other organizations near to the heart of the team at Mergen include: Ronald McDonald House, Lymphoma and Leukemia Association, Regina Catholic School, Newman Student Center, Iowa City Food Bank and events and fundraisers put on by the local schools. With all this giving, Mergen has helped hundreds and hundreds of people live a better life in our community
