Crowded Closet Thrift Shop began as a small group of visionary women in 1978. They had a heart for helping others and saw an opportunity to raise funds by selling donated goods. Making an impact was their mission, locally and globally through the worldwide relief and development work for Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).
Their small storefront began offering lightly-used clothing and household items, but quickly filled and captured the hearts of others. Today, the Closet has grown to its largest space yet and also includes a gift shop with fair trade. A team of over 200 volunteers and countless donors and shoppers make possible its generous impact on the community and world— including more than $50,000 in resources to community agencies and $240,000 to MCC annually.
This anniversary year, the Closet will celebrate the shop, that is so much more, with a week-long birthday party. Shoppers should come take advantage of special discounts and fun. Volunteers will be recognized with an appreciation dinner to honor their amazing work.
